Instant Roof
User forum for SketchUp extension Instant Roof

Hi, I have been using IR for a few weeks now and love it.
I am now working on a model trying to get a simple gable roof on to an elongated cupola which sits on the ridge of a simple gable main roof. If I try to model the main (lower) roof together with the cupola (upper) roof I get an error massage. If I model the main roof separate from the cupola roof then the upper parts of the main roof cut into the cupola walls without trimming it.
How can I resolve this problem or could anyone look at my file?
Your input is greatly appreciated!

Hi Everyone
I have been using Instant roof for a few weeks now, and i LOVE this program... it has taken the guesswork out of creating roofs in sketchup. i am using instant roof free... but upon creating a shape for a house while making the roof. the finished roof ends up like this http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5135/5394842452_5f02c2fd64_b.jpg
can you please tell me why and how to fix this program?
Thank you

Awesome plug-ins!
Would it be hard to set up a way for users to share Roof styles? For instance has anyone done a Tiki type roof for a resort in Bali, etc?

I want to create a gambrel roof that transitions into a single pitch that matches the upper gambrel pitch.
The picture should explain what I want to accomplish...I manually modified this roof for this look.

On the topic of roof pitches:
1. Can Instant Roof have "bastard" pitches? Say, 8:12 front to back and 12:12 side to side.
Building height restrictions often make this a necessity.
2. Can Instant Roof do pitches greater than 24:12? I often need 28:12 or 30:12 when doing gambrels.
Thanks, Ben

Hi Chuck,
Thank you for your quick response to a couple of questions. Tried your free version and now purchased the Pro Version. You are to be congratulated for producing such a useful addition to Sketchup. All the roof configurations I am ever likely to need. Clearly you have put a lot of time in to produce Instant Roof.
A simple toolbar/buttons would be the icing on the cake and make your product more visible !!
Thank you once again.
Regards,
AndrewPRD

Great plugin Chuck, Just what I have been waiting for.
One suggestion. Can the yes/no drop down lists for modifying parameters be a check box instead. Would save a click. Otherwise, I'm loving it. The parameters make perfect sense to me, not cryptic at all.
What are you working on next?

Hello and welcome to this forum. If you haven't done so, I encourage you to download the free version of Instant Roof and start making some roofs.
Instant Roof free version limitation:
The free version will only create the following roof slopes: 1/8:12 (0.6 degrees) ; 2:12 (9.5 degrees) ; 6:12 (26.6 degrees) ; 16:12 (53 degrees) or 24:12 (63 degrees).
The pro version does not have this limitation and will create roof slopes between 1/8:12 (0.6 degrees) and 24:12 (63 degrees)
