I'm trying to install a California Ranch roof. The roof plate is at 8 feet. the rafter cut through the interior wall instead of sitting on top of the plate. What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to generate a hip roof with several edges but I get really weird results if I just use the face as it. I can cut the face into 2 sides and generate each side separately, but that leave me with a lot of work to join the parts and add ridges and materials.
This is a link to the sketchup drawing showing the base that I'm using for the surfaces and the completed 2-part roof.

How do edit the roof after the roof is made? For example, how would I change the overhang width or the slope at a later date?

I've downloaded Instant Roof Pro with the extension .rds. I put it in Plugins and try to open but it does not recognize the .rds's files. How do I get SketchUp 2013 to recognize his file?

It would be useful to be able to construct building sections, using the SketchUp section plane function, that would show a roof thickness corresponding to the rafter depth selected - anywhere the roof is cut with a section plane. Unless there is a parameter I've overlooked, Instant Roof constructs roof planes inside the building perimeter without any depth.

Basically this a gable roof where the ceiling of the room below has ceilings that slope up (following the roof slope) for say 30% of the roof height and then the ceiling is flat.
Can I use instant roof to do this please?

The roof details (mission tiles) are only showing up on some roof planes, not all (within the same roof unit). Any idea how to fix this?

I've watched the video and read the pdf but everytime I attempt to recreate the same roof, the two halves do not connect. Instead I get an internal box-like thing happening. I must be missing something, not turning something off...??
